The syntheses of two radioactive carcinogens of high specific activity are described in detail.
3,4-Benzpyrene-5-C14, specific activity 2.8 µc. per milligram, was obtained in over-all yield of 22 per cent, based on barium carbonate.
2-Acetylaminofluorene-9-C14, specific activity 4.55 µc. per milligram, was obtained in over-all yield of 50 per cent, based on barium carbonate.
