Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio)

Iodouridine, iodoorotic acid, and iodouracil, labeled with I131, were synthesized. The syntheses of iodouridine and iodoorotic acid have not been described previously. The incorporation of these three I131-labeled pyrimidines into normal tissue, regenerating liver, and experimental tumors was investigated, and no significant preferential concentration was observed.

* This investigation was supported, in part, by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Public Health Service.

{dagger} Merck Postdoctoral Fellow of the National Research Council of Canada.

Received 9/22/52.
