Penetration of Serum Globulins into Mouse Tumors*

R. Hiramoto{dagger} and W. J. Nungester

( Department of Bacteriology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich.)

The injection of I131-tagged normal or immune globulin intravenously into mice bearing the Ehrlich tumor resulted in some increase in radioactivity in the tumor over that found in the spleen, liver, or kidney. The fluorescein-tagged normal and immune sera were not localized to any significant degree in the tumor. However, tumor cells could be made to fluoresce in vivo with tagged immune globulin, provided the cells were first injected intravenously and were trapped in the blood capillaries of the lung.

* From a doctoral dissertation, University of Michigan, 1956.

{dagger} Present address: Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo 3, New York.
