Determination of Mammalian Cell (Strain HeLa) Inhibition by an Agar Diffusion Technic

I. Quantitative Assay Methods^*

A procedure was described for assaying potential antitumor agents by an agar diffusion method. The technic employed a substrain of the S-3 clonal strain of HeLa selected for ability to grow well under agar. Activity was manifested by a zone of growth inhibition as a direct function of dose.
