Therapy of Heterotransplanted Choriocarcinoma*

G. B. Pierce, Jr.{dagger}, A. R. Midgley, Jr.{ddagger} and E. L. Verney

( Department of Pathology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)

Two choriocarcinomas of intrauterine origin were successfully heterotransplanted to cortisone-treated hamsters. The cells of these heterotransplanted choriocarcinomas had no greater sensitivity to methotrexate than did those from a heterotransplanted choriocarcinoma of testicular origin. Appearances suggestive of mesenchymogenesis from cytotrophoblast have been observed in the transplants of one of these tumors.
