In the rat liver, almost all free nucleotides underwent quantitative modification after dietetic treatment with ethionine (0.25 gm/100 gm of diet).
In particular, the free nucleotides of energetic type (ATP, UTP, GTP) were diminished, and this showed, under these experimental conditions, a decrease in the availability of high-energy bonds.
The cytidilic and uridylic nucleotides were also noticeably modified.
* This investigation was supported by a grant from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Roma, Italy.
