The effect of 400 compounds has been tested on the growth of one or more of seven bacterial systems. There is no evident correlation of an y specificity of action in these systems with reported antitumor activity. Inhibition of cell division seemed to be generally correlated with oxidizing or alkylating function of the chemicals.
