Thymus grafts from high leukemia strain AKR mice increased the incidence of generalized lymphoid leukemia and reticulum-cell sarcoma in leukemia-resistant (AKR x C57BL)F1 mice, particularly in female mice. Almost all the neoplasms were derived from F1 host cells. Splenectomy did not alter the effects of thymus grafting. Urethan treatment shortened the latent period of leukemia and reticulum-cell sarcoma development in (AKR x C57BL)F1 mice but had no additive effect to the effects of AKR thymus grafting. AKR thymus grafts did not increase leukemia incidence of shorten the latent period for leukemia development in leukemia-susceptible (AKR x C3H)F1 mice.
