Spontaneous pathologic abnormalities occurring in a laboratory colony of Xenopus were recorded and studied. These included granulomas, hematomas, hamartomas, cysts, hydrops disease, paralysis, and 81 cases of lymphosarcoma. The lymphosarcomas most commonly affected the liver, spleen, and kidneys, but also metastasized to other organs. Although the first tumors tended to be found in miscellaneous adult Xenopus, the later cases tended to be in juvenile Xenopus, particularly those in experimental families.
