The Enzymatic Synthesis of Ribonucleic Acid in Animal Tissue

II. Comparison of the Enzyme from Normal Bovine Lymph Node and Bovine Lymphosarcoma Tissue1

J. J. Furth2, Patricia Ho and David K. Hopper

Department of Pathology, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The enzyme RNA polymerase can be isolated from normal bovine lymph nodes as well as from bovine lymphosarcoma. The characteristics of the enzyme, obtained from the 2 sources, are similar. The specific activity of the enzyme, both in the crude extract and in the partially purified preparation, is twice as high in the neoplastic tissue.
