Cytotoxic Substances from Tropical Plants1

Extracts of 177 species of tropical and subtropical plants were prepared and screened for cytotoxic activity against KB cells in tissue culture. Preparations from 12 plants had significant cytotoxic activity. The most active samples were isolated from Abrus precatorius.
