Of 8 Burkitt lymphoma lines, 4 had classically diploid stemlines, Ogun and Kudi being female, and Raji and EB3, male. EB2 was diploid but with an abnormal near-metacentric marker. SL1 was diploid but with 3 markers. EB1 was subdiploid. Jiyoye was normal male except for trisomy for a 612+X chromosome.
As compared with benign cells, the lines tended to show a high incidence of aberration including markers, multiradials, and pulverized metaphase figures. A sporadic marker, RM-1, has been observed in SL1, Jiyoye, and Ogun. Distinctive secondary constrictions occur on a pair of 612+X homologs in EB2, EB3, and Jiyoye.
