The mitotic cycle of proliferating cells in Sarcoma 180 solid tumors was analyzed by following the incidence of labeled mitoses with time. The method utilized a dispersed cell preparation treated to demonstrate mitotic figures. The average lengths of the cycle and its phases in hours were: total cycle, 13.5; S, 7.8; G2, 2.5; G1, 2.7; mitosis, approximately 0.5.
