N-Methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine was administered continuously to 26 male Golden hamsters at a concentration of 83 µg/ml in drinking water. Twenty fibrosarcomas in the glandular stomach and 3 adenocarcinomas and 2 fibrosarcomas in the duodenum were observed in animals that died after 6 to 10 months. In almost all the cases of fibrosarcomas in the glandular stomach, atypical glandular epithelial proliferation infiltrating into submucosa or muscle layer was also present.
