A simple method to detect the existence of multiple forms of deoxythymidine was established. With this method, the pattern of the enzyme was examined in various normal and tumor tissues. The existence of multiple forms of the enzyme was demonstrated in tumor tissues such as Yoshida sarcoma, Ehrlich ascites, Hepatoma AH130, Sarcoma 180, and Morris Hepatomas 7793 and 7794A, but not in normal rat tissues such as regenerating and embryonic livers and marrow cells.
