Isolation of mice leads to an increase in the survival of animals with tumor grafts (leukemia, ascites tumors, and melanoma). An abrupt change in environment (isolation or grouping) provokes an increase in the weight of the grafted ascites tumors. Adrenal hyperactivity, observed after either isolation or grouping is probably the cause of the increase in ascitic fluid weight.
