Streptovitacin A (a protein synthesis inhibitor) partially protected DON cells from the lethality of 1-ß-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine (cytarabine), hydroxyurea, and 5-hydroxy-2-formylpyridine thiosemicarbazone (DNA synthesis inhibitors and S-phase-specific agents). Our results suggest that the cells in S were not protected by streptovitacin A while the non-S-phase cells were protected.
