It has come to our attention that the data shown in Figure 3 of our manuscript (A. Bateman et al., Cancer Res. 60: 1492–1497, 2000) are derived from a slightly different experimental protocol than those described in the following text from page 1496 (lines 28–35):

Established Tumors Can Be Eradicated by Transduction with Plasmid DNA Encoding FMG cDNA. Human tumor xenografts of HT1080 or Mel624 cells were injected s.c. into nude athymic mice at a dose of 106 tumor cells/mouse. At this dose, 90–100% of mice develop small, palpable tumors by 72 h after tumor cell seeding. Tumors were transfected with 10 µg of plasmid DNA complexed with Efectene lipid (Qiagen). The subsequent development of tumor growth was then measured with time as shown in Fig. 3.

The protocol should read as follows:

Tumorigenicity Can Be Abrogated by Pretransduction with Plasmid DNA Encoding FMG cDNA. Tumor cells were transfected with 10 µg of plasmid DNA complexed with Efectene lipid (Qiagen). Twenty-four h later, transduced human tumor xenografts of HT1080 or Mel624 cells were injected s.c. into nude athymic mice at a dose of 106 tumor cells/mouse. At this dose, 90–100% of control mice develop small, palpable tumors by 72 h after tumor cell seeding. The subsequent development of tumor growth was then measured with time as shown in Fig. 3.

All other data reported in the manuscript have been thoroughly checked and are correct as described.
