The computationally predicted three-dimensional structure of the truncated VEGF heparin-binding domain. It features a cysteine at the first position which is essential for function. The two disulfide bridges of Cys3-Cys22 and Cys10-Cys24 stabilize the structure and are required for heparin-binding function. The structure interacts with GAG ligands on the surface of tumor vascular endothelium. For details, see the article by El-Sheikh et al. on page 7118 of this issue.
