AB  - Dimethyl sulfoxide is a convenient solvent of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene and related polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons for i.v. injection. As judged by its ability to induce both adrenal necrosis and mammary tumors, this solution is at least as active as fatty emulsions of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene now in general use. While the preparation of emulsions is time consuming and requires special equipment, the solution can be made quickly and economically in every laboratory. ©1970 American Association for Cancer Research.
