Effect of pretreatment of rats with polycyclic hydrocarbons on the metabolism of tritiated BP

In experiment 1, female rats weighing 175–185 g were treated orally with 20 mg/kg of BP once daily for 2 days. An equimolar amount of 3-methylcholanthrene (MC), DMBA, pyrene, or anthracene was administered in experiment 2. The day after the last dose of polycyclic hydrocarbon, rats were given an i.v. injection of 10 μg of [3H]BP, and the animals were killed 45 min later. The data represent the mean ± SE from three to six values where each value was obtained from 3 rats. (Taken from Ref. 22 .)
